This notice explains how we handle your personal data when you use Homesplace, and the rights you have under UK data protection law.
1. Who we are
Homesplace is a product of Truveri Ltd, the data controller for the personal data described in this notice. Truveri Ltd is registered in England and Wales (company number 16781739), with its registered office at Bartle House, 9 Oxford Court, Manchester, M2 3WQ. You can contact us about privacy at hello@homesplace.co.uk.
We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
2. Important note on care-service data
Most of the information published on Homesplace is official regulatory and corporate data about care providers (for example CQC inspection records and company information). That is not personal data about you and is covered by our Data sources page and our Terms. This privacy notice is about the personal data of you, the visitor or account holder.
3. The personal data we collect
- Account data — your email address and authentication details when you create an account.
- Usage and watchlist data — the searches you run, care services you save or watch, questions you ask, and preferences you set.
- Payment data — when you buy credits, our payment provider (Stripe) processes your payment. We receive confirmation and limited transaction details but not your full card number.
- Technical data — IP address, device and browser information, and log data generated when you use the Service, used for security and to keep the Service running.
4. How and why we use it (lawful bases)
- To provide the Service — creating and managing your account, running searches, and maintaining your watchlist. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- To process payments for credits. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- To keep the Service secure and working, prevent abuse, and debug problems. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests.
- To answer your questions using large language models applied to official data. The text you submit is sent to our AI provider to generate an answer. Lawful basis: performance of a contract / legitimate interests.
- Cookieless analytics to understand and improve the Service. We measure aggregate, anonymous usage with privacy-friendly analytics that set no cookies and do not track you across other sites. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
- To meet legal obligations such as accounting and responding to lawful requests. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
5. Cookies
We use strictly-necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your cookie choices. Our analytics are cookieless and set no cookies. See our Cookie policy for details.
6. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract, including:
- Supabase — authentication, database and hosting of account and application data.
- Stripe — payment processing for credit purchases.
- Anthropic and/or OpenAI — processing the questions you submit to generate plain-English answers.
- Vercel — application hosting and delivery, and cookieless web analytics.
We may also disclose data where required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
7. International transfers
Some of our processors are based outside the UK (for example in the United States). Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision, so your data receives an equivalent level of protection.
8. How long we keep it
- Account and watchlist data — for as long as your account is active, and then deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period after closure.
- Payment records — retained for the period required by tax and accounting law (generally six years).
- Technical and log data — retained for a short period for security and troubleshooting.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to our processing in certain circumstances;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent; and
- complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (see section 12).
To exercise any of these rights, contact hello@homesplace.co.uk. We will respond within the time limits set by law.
10. Automated processing and AI
We use large language models to help generate answers from official data. This supports your queries; it does not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you. AI-generated answers may contain errors and link to their underlying sources so you can verify them.
11. Children
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
12. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your data, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
13. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows when it was last revised; where changes are material we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention.
